The Fragmented Tome is a partially recovered text believed by the Church of Alienism to contain transmissions from early human-alien contact events. Broken into disjointed sections with missing passages, it is studied not just for its content, but for its structure—its gaps, contradictions, and distortions are considered part of the message itself.
On the Veil of Cognition explains that human perception is a form of protection, not revelation. It introduces the reader to the Nodal Sanctuaries—five hidden sites encountered during the Pilgrimage—where that protective veil begins to fail, allowing deeper contact with what lies beyond ordinary reality.
An Encyclical is an official message from the Pontifax Extraterror, addressed to all members of the Church of Alienism and to humanity at large. It delivers clear guidance, announces significant developments, or prepares the faithful for events of cosmic importance. They form an importnat part of the overall composition of the Codex Cosmologica.
Texts which are known to have once or will exist, but copies of are lost to cycles or are yet to brought into existence.
“And lo, the firmament shall tremble, and the veil that guards the world shall thin. The minds of men shall falter, for that which cannot be named shall stir. The Familiar shall perish, and Reason shall weep.”
This prophecy foretells a great unveiling, wherein the created order will be shaken by the encroachment of that which lies beyond—The Alien Mind, ineffable and holy. Perception itself shall be tried as by fire.
“In the watches of the night, they shall descend—not borne upon clouds, but through dreams and signs. No tongue shall speak their law, yet every soul shall tremble at their coming.”
Herein is proclaimed the coming of the Silent Apostles—heralds of the Alien Logos. They speak not with mouths but with visions, calling the faithful to repentance, detachment, and awe.
“When the Fifth Gate is opened, and the Sanctuaries sing in unison, then shall all flesh be drawn to the Core. There, the Image shall be erased, and all shall be one with the Unimaged.”
The last prophecy speaks of a holy consummation: the dissolution of all selfhood into the Source from which all reality flows. In this, the faithful are promised union—not in form, but in sacred forgetting.
“The moment I crossed into the Forbidden Archives, the liturgy began—not sung, but unleashed. It tore through me like gamma radiation, dissolving my cells and soul. I collapsed, screaming. And yet… I understood. For a heartbeat, I was the Word. I barely survived. But I left with a truth so bright, I have never found darkness again.”
- Member Serah Myndros, Cycle 1881
The Forbidden Archives are accessible only to those—alien or human—prepared to shoulder a burden, or embrace a joy, so profound and terrifying that it lies beyond the cognitive reach of most sentient life.
Access is restricted to the highest initiates of the Church—those who have attained Ascension Level 7 (AL-7) or above.
Others who attempt entry have reported irreversible dissociation, mnemonic collapse, or a euphoria so vast and unspeakable it renders them spiritually inert.
